We finished Phase 1 of our Jacksonville 1926, 98 year old, duplex recoating & repair job on Herschel Street in historic 5 points area we recently blogged about and it turned out great!!! We will be posting more before & after pics of that soon. We will be reroofing the duplex during Phase 2……………. Now this week we are in our hometown Saint Augustine working on one of the houses for the State of Military Affairs. If you live in St. Augustine you know that all of the historical houses have names. The name of the house we are working on is called the CHECCHI HOUSE. It is located in the historical area of downtown St. Augustine. This house was built in the 1880’s and when it was approximately 100 years old it was donated, in 1986, to the National Guard who now houses their office staff there. We are currently performing historic renovations such as wood rot repair, gutter replacement and 10 year Sherwin Williams coating applications to this landmark to preserve the homes structural integrity. We will also be replacing the stairwell, during Phase 2, after those jobs have been completed. It is believed to be one of the few remaining Sears and Roebuck kit homes left in existence.
