This past June we were invited to a great convention to learn about new roofing products and to build working relationships with our distributors and sales reps. A big thank you to our sponsors, Tropical Roofing Products, Gulf Coast Materials, Suncoast Roofers Supply, Owens Corning Roofing Products, and GAF Roofing Products for having us and throwing the great contractor reception parties! We had a great time and learned about many new items that we will be using in the future.
A to Z is excited about winning this new YETI 20 cooler. After being a valued customer of Tropical Roofing products for the first half of 2016, we were entered into a drawing and WON!! Thank you Tropical Roofing, we will enjoy our YETI!
The past few months have flown by! We have been painting, roofing, waterproofing and remodeling all over St. Augustine, Jacksonville and surrounding areas. We recently painted a $400,000 condo renovation at Palencia Promenade. We used quality Sherwin Williams products to transform & renovate this upscale condo.
We are pleased to announce the opening of the new law office location of Mowery, Shoemaker & Beardsley. We were thrilled to be a part of this project and help this thriving local business get a permanent home!
We also recently finished a new construction job which was a beautiful 2 story custom home on Vilano Beach overlooking the amazing intercoastal views. We painted with Sherwin Williams products both the interior and exterior of which we installed new Galvalume 5V metal roofing and Hardi board siding.
Another beach home we recently painted was on St. Augustine Beach. We coated this home with Sherwin Williams elastomeric coatings as well. The new colors really make it look like a home on the beach, not just another subdivision property!
Our current roof projects include a Galvalume simrib metal roofing installation of a 3,500sf duplex on St. Augustine Beach, Hydrostop waterproofing coatings of a large 4,500sf flat roof also on Saint Augustine Beach and many GAF asphalt shingle reroofs & leak repairs to condos and homes in Saint Augustine.
Thankfully this storm season has crept quietly by without incident to many of our clients. There has been however insurance company mandates insisting many homeowners install new roof coverings to renew their insurance policies. We have taken on many of these reshingle and roof overs to ensure these customers can get the insurance coverages they need. Upon completion of these jobs we perform roof mitigations, included in the reroof price, to forward to the insurance agents for or homeowners renewals and discounts. Please check out our friends, Sallie & Lori, at Benchmark Insurance Agency for all your home insurance needs. Their number is 904-829-2296. They offer free quotes as well. http://benchmarkins.com/contact.html
We currently perform much of the routine & emergency maintenance of local condos in our area managed by Sovereign & Jacobs. These properties are Cottages of Winding Creek, The Greens 1, The Greens 2, Tuscany Villages, Four Winds, Anastasia by the Sea, Anastasia Townhomes, Seagrove, Hannahs Walk, Makarios, Eagle Creek, Beach Haven & Turtle Shores. We perform roofing, painting, waterproofing, carpentry, pressure cleaning, drainage issues and many other necessary upkeep items.
Our historic downtown St. Augustine renovations we are working on are located at Trinity Episcopal Church and at Grace United Methodist Church. These repairs consist of Tile roofing, cedar shake shingle roofing, gutter waterproofing, Hydrostop waterproofing and carpentry repairs.
We will soon be starting a 3 story forclosure renovation on Vilano beach in Turtle Shores. This will be a full paint application of both the interior & exterior using Sherwin Williams and Hydrostop coatings. There is severe stucco damage which will need repaired and waterproofing issues that will be addressed during the coating and prep applications.
A to Z Roofing & Waterproofing and A to Z Custom Homes believes in community service and supporting local charities and businesses. In September we sponsored a cornhole tournament to benefit 2 local people with cancer. The Kickin Cancer benefit was held at Freedom Baptist Church. We had a lot of fun for a great cause!
In October we put together a team for Pink up the Pace to benefit breast cancer research. We ran and walked through historic downtown to raise awareness and money for this wonderful charity. We currently have no events scheduled for November however we will probably be assisting families in Saint Augustine that need Thanksgiving dinner item boxes. In December we have a luncheon we are sponsoring for Sparrow’s Wings which provides clothing for local homeless school children and we will also hold our annual Christmas Party during the Sandbar Santas benefit for the Council on Aging to provide our local elderly with Christmas!
Wow summer has been flying by and we’ve been getting so many carpentry, painting, roofing and waterproofing renovations accomplished here in beautiful St. Augustine!
As always, A to Z proudly supports local businesses and our community. We hope you will as well.
We are thrilled to support Dave, the owner of The Spot Café, with the opening of their new location off of US1 North which is near The St. Johns County Sherriff’s Office, the St. Johns County Courthouse as well as Northrup Grumman and The St. Augustine Airport. I am sure the employees of these surrounding businesses are excited to have a great home cooked meal for breakfast & lunch.
This week we are painting at Moultrie Baptist Church located south of town off Highway US1.
This is the church we recently volunteered at for Vacation Bible School 2014! What a joy it was to spend time mentoring these children! The church has also teamed up with A to Z Custom Homes to serve the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets Football Team pre-game meals during the season. This past season we were able to serve 5 meals! It’s truly amazing to help the children of our community!
We are also on the final phase of the waterproofing and painting of the 87 year old historic Leonards Studios building located near downtown Saint Augustine off of San Marco Ave. This renovation scope of work included masonry and stucco repair, masonry sealing, painting, roof carpentry and flat roof coating all using Hydrostop waterproofing products.
A to Z has been using Hydrostop coating products, which we have been licensed applicators of, since 2001. These products were used to coat both the roof and exterior walls. A to Z Custom Homes, Inc. is the most experienced and longest licensed applicator of Hydrostop products in Saint Johns County, Florida.
This versatile waterproofing product is used on decks, walkways, roofs, foundations and to waterproof building exteriors complete. Two of the major uses here in Florida are on flat decks where we can apply a faux tile finish and flat roofs. These applications have 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 year renewable warranties.
Two of our recently finished projects, both quadraplexes, are located on beautiful St. Augustine Beach. This reroofing project included metal Galvalume 26 gauge. We are now starting 2 more roofs, which are both new homes under construction, for the same owners as the quadraplexes. They will also be of GAF shingle & Galvalume metal construction. The GAF shingled roofs will carry 50 year System Plus warranties on the residential and 40 year on the commercial/multifamily ( quadraplex ) units. The Galvalume metal roofs will carry 25 year warranties on both the residential & commercial/multifamily.
We have also been working on masonry & stucco repair as well as applying Sherwin Williams paints to a home near R.B. Hunt in the St. Augustine Shores. This home was prepped, repaired, sealed & painted within a week. Oh the difference a fresh coat of paint makes!
This weeks historic district downtown work consists of carpentry & framing of an ARC of the St. Johns building on Cuna Street named The Pomar House. It was originally built in 1900. We are currently working with A.D. Davis Construction on this renovation.
We have been busy in Saint Augustine working on the Pomar House, belonging to ARC of St. Johns, downtown doing the framing and carpentry renovation . We are also on Vilano Beach working on a deck. Tomorrow we will start reroofing two quadraplexes out on St. Augustine Beach, one will be shingle, one will be metal……. and with this weather it is going to be a HOT one……
We finished Phase 1 of our Jacksonville 1926, 98 year old, duplex recoating & repair job on Herschel Street in historic 5 points area we recently blogged about and it turned out great!!! We will be posting more before & after pics of that soon. We will be reroofing the duplex during Phase 2……………. Now this week we are in our hometown Saint Augustine working on one of the houses for the State of Military Affairs. If you live in St. Augustine you know that all of the historical houses have names. The name of the house we are working on is called the CHECCHI HOUSE. It is located in the historical area of downtown St. Augustine. This house was built in the 1880’s and when it was approximately 100 years old it was donated, in 1986, to the National Guard who now houses their office staff there. We are currently performing historic renovations such as wood rot repair, gutter replacement and 10 year Sherwin Williams coating applications to this landmark to preserve the homes structural integrity. We will also be replacing the stairwell, during Phase 2, after those jobs have been completed. It is believed to be one of the few remaining Sears and Roebuck kit homes left in existence.
